What is a warm and form back brace?
A warm and form back support is a type of lumbar brace. The back brace consists of a supportive belt and an insert that is custom fit for each patient. The insert needs to be “warmed” with a hydroculator or a heat gun. While the insert is “warm” which really means very hot, the insert is “formed” or molded to the patient’s lower back. This isn’t a do-it-yourself project. A person trained to fit back braces should be the one warming and forming the insert. No, you can’t heat the insert in a microwave.
Now it may be difficult to find a person to fit a warm and form back brace. And that’s because most health insurances do not reimburse for this type of back brace. So the warm and form has become a cash only type of back brace.
If a doctor prescribes a warm and form for you, and you don’t know where to get it warmed and formed, then buy the brace on line, and take it to the person that prescribed it, and ask them to fit the brace.
