Comfortable to Sleep In

Night splints for heel pain are an effective treatment option.  However they are often uncomfortable to sleep in, and make walking around if you have to get up out of bed difficult.

The heel wrap pictured above is a nice alternative to a big honking night splint.  Now you won’t get as much of a stretch with this wrap as you will a traditional plantar fasciitis night splint, but for those nights where you have to get to sleep, and need to be able to walk in the morning, this is a fine solution.

This foot brace coast $19.45 on the Heritage Medical Equipment website.  Click here to learn more about this plantar fasciitis wrap, and other types of plantar fasciitis night splints.

Plantar Fasciitis Pain Relief

Plantar Fasciitis Wrap

This plantar fasciitis wrap is a low-profile and comfortable alternative to wearing a big honking foot brace.  This wrap may not work for everyone, but this easy-to-wear foot positioning brace is worth trying.  Are you having trouble sleeping with your current night splint.  Give this little fella a try.

Plantar Fasciitis is caused by various reasons, but overuse, like strenuous exercise, is most common.  That is why athletes are prone to experiencing the heel and foot pain associated with plantar fasciitis.  Certain types of arthritis and diabetes are also common causes – prevalent among the elderly.  Flat feet, high arches, and even bad shoes can be culprits.

Rest, ice, and over the counter drugs like aspirin are common treatment options.  A shoe insert or orthotic can also help a great deal.  Another great remedy for relieving pain associated with plantar fasciitis is wearing a night splint while sleeping.

A night splint stretches the plantar fascia while sleeping.  The brace prevents the ligament from becoming tight.  It takes a few nights to get used to sleeping in the device, but the braces work.  No more drugs.  Ask your doctor if you are a candidate.

Plantar Fasciitis Night Splint

Night Splint

A common treatment option for heel pain is a night splint.  Often times the heel pain that is felt first thing in the morning is related to plantar fasciitis.  A night splint is designed to provide a gentle stretch while sleeping so upon waking there isn’t any heel pain.

Plantar fasciitis night splints come in different shapes and sizes.  These foot braces are designed to be worn while sleeping – not walking.  The better night splints available will have a non-slip or non-skid tread on the bottom of the braces but this is simply to help get back and forth to the bathroom or kitchen at night.  Night splints are not orthopedic walking boots.
